A while back I needed a new Clinique City Base compact, so I went to Younkers to pick one up. It was a few weeks before I needed the new compact, but it was Clinique bonus days so I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway to maximize my money.
One of the items in my bonus day make-up bag was a Clinique Lip Palette with the following colors included:
DL – a different grape
BSL – pink-a-boo
BSL – cranberry cream
DL – ice bloom
DL lipsticks from Clinique are Different Lipstick while BSL lipsticks from Clinique are Butter Shine lipsticks.
I have been mixing and matching the shades on my lip as you can see in the photo of my partially used palettes. My mixing has mostly been using the different shades to highlight different portions of my lips to add definition to my upper lip and add the illusion of plumpness to my lower lip. So far, so good.
I have particularly enjoyed the experience of using a lip brush to apply lip color versus using an actual lipstick. This is my first time doing it, but I can already tell the difference it makes in both accuracy of application and adding definition.
Definitely worth a whirl. I’m going to try to get a more expansive lip palette in the future.

Puffs Plus with Vicks as a Potential Make-Up Application Aid
I was looking for a box of tissues today at the grocery store. I have several little sample size packets that I keep handy for use in my purse or near the table where we typically have morning coffee and sort our mail.
I didn’t have a larger box of tissues for long-term use going into winter. I looked back and forth across the tissue selection at Hyvee before settling on Puffs Plus with lotion and the Vick’s scent.
I have always used Vicks rub in the winter to help alleviate congestion. I know that the scent of Vick’s seems to overwhelm most people, but I find
it comforting at night and easy to wash off in the morning. By the time I get done with my morning toilette and apply perfume, any scent is gone completely.
I hope that using these Kleenex help keep the skin around my mouth and nose soft and free of the dry skin that makes my make-up application difficult and uncomfortable.
I so dislike diligently applying a make-up foundation only to end up with an imperfect application because of winter skin issues.
I’ll let you know if they help…they definitely smell like they will!
White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor Gift Set at Macy’s
In terms of a Christmas gift that has the packaging with the most outright pop and glitz without being over the top, the White Diamond by Elizabeth Taylor gift set at Macy’s takes the cake! Check out a shot:
I love the gold gift box coupled with the delicate raised flowers. The blingy details around the caps also helps add a bit of “this is not your grandmother’s White Diamonds perfume packaging” to the mix.
According to Macy’s.com the set includes 3.3 ounces of each an Eau de Toilette, Body Cream and Shower Gel, as well as a 0.5 oz Frosted Eau de Parfum. The retail price on this set is $120.00, but as of the wee morning hours of 11/30, the price is actually $58.00. That could be a bit of a Cyber Monday holdover deal, but it is quite the bargain for the amount of perfume in the big bottle alone – much less with the extras.
I, myself, have never used White Diamonds, but this set is tempting!
About White Diamonds:
Created almost twenty years ago, White Diamonds, with its rich sensual floral fragrance remains a gift to treasure. The number one most successful celebrity fragrance, like the brilliant rare jewel that is Elizabeth Taylor, White Diamonds has intoxicated the world with its complex scents of Sandalwood, Rose, Jasmin and Amazon Lily.
Disclosure: I received no form of compensation for this post, but my initial impetus for sharing was a picture of the packaging nestled inside a press release.
